East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure has announced its Winterfest programme, with a whole host of Christmas craft classes, events, singing workshops, cinema screenings and Jack and the Beanstalk panto lined up to spread some festive cheer.
Crafty Elves at Eastwood workshops featuring fun, festive arts and crafts activities for kids take place at Eastwood House on 12 and 14 December. Adults can get involved in the craft fun too, with Crafty Christmas workshops, led by an experienced arts tutor who will demonstrate how to make decorations to take home, including pompom garlands and wreaths, and learn different crafting techniques. The workshops take place at Eastwood House on 28 November, 5 December and 12 December.
A Victorian Christmas at Eastwood House heritage talk is lined up on 5 December. Tracy Harrison Butler will delve into the Victorian Christmases past, exploring 19th century traditions that would have been enjoyed at the grand country manor, Eastwood House, which has served as a stunning background for many Christmas celebrations over the years. An adult Sing-a-long workshop featuring fun, festive songs will take place at Eastwood House on 14 December.
A series of festive films can be enjoyed throughout December, starting with two showings of the traditional film It's a Wonderful Life at Eastwood Park Theatre on 2 December. Andre Rieu's Gold & Silver Christmas Concert cinema screening will also be shown at the theatre on 9 December, with The Royal Ballet and Opera's Cinderella on 16 December and The Nutcracker following on 19 December.
Eastwood House will also host a series of festive films, including National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (28 November), The Shop Around the Corner (5 December), Love Actually (5 December), The Wizard of Oz (12 December), Elf (14 December), Meet Me in St. Louis (14 December) and Die Hard (14 and 18 December) and The Muppet Christmas Carol (18 December). The Eastwood House screenings take place in a brand new cinema room, located on the ground floor.
The festive fun continues with over sixty shows of the magical giant tale Jack and the Beanstalk, brought by Spillers Pantomimes, from 27 November to 31 December 2024 at Eastwood Park Theatre.
