The project, called ‘90 Years in 90 Minutes’, will bring together all the interesting stories and interviews gathered in a series of podcasts, which will amount to 90 minutes in total.
The school’s milestone was at the start of February, and the 90th birthday has already been celebrated in lots of different ways, including talent shows, parties, art projects and creating a huge 90 in the playground formed of all the current pupils.
The pupil-led Tech Team is also working hard to bring the history of the school to life throughout the year’s celebrations. A number of episodes of their podcasts are already available on Spotify and Anchor, with episode one featuring an interview with Yvonne Donaldson, the school’s current Head Teacher.
The series of podcasts about the Clarkston Road school aims to provide short bursts of history, highlighting lots of different perspectives of life at Netherlee Primary from throughout the years, and tell the story of Netherlee through personal stories.
Netherlee Primary Head Teacher Yvonne Donaldson said: “We are looking to record a wide-array of stories which reflect the interesting and diverse history of Netherlee Primary School. Netherlee is more than just a school, it is a community, and this podcast will help tell some of the community’s stories. Netherlee pupils have gone on to success in a wide variety of different fields, have travelled the world, have experienced so much – but it all started here at Netherlee.”
The Tech Team is a group of P7 leaders who have a keen interest in digital technology and help in a variety of different ways in the school; from helping younger pupils to access technology and keeping the technology in the school organised, to the light and sound production for school events and recording podcasts.
Please get in contact with Netherlee Primary either via email at schoolmail@netherlee.e-renfrew.sch.uk or phone on 0141 570 7260 to find out more information. To listen to the released episodes, search “Netherlee 90 Years in 90 Minutes” on Spotify, or visit anchor.fm/netherlee-primary, as well as keeping an eye on Twitter.
