Major works planned at Neilston Leisure Centre pool
A major project to upgrade the swimming pool at Neilston Leisure Centre is being proposed by East Renfrewshire Council.

An investment of around £350,000 to carry out essential works at the pool is planned, subject to approval next month.
And the council are also set to look into other refurbishments at the centre in the longer term.
Neilston Sports Centre has been closed since August last year due to concerns over the pool’s air-handling units and its circulation system’s ability to deal with contamination. It was closed as a preventative measure.
A survey of the centre’s facilities was then started and a public consultation to seek customers’ views was carried out.
Now the council are proposing to begin the work to upgrade the swimming pool as soon as possible. The pool will remain closed while the refurbishment is carried out.
Councillor Mary Montague, convenor for community services and community safety, said: “We are delighted to be able to move forward with this proposed major investment at Neilston Leisure Centre swimming pool.
“The centre is a popular facility in the local community and we are committed to seeing it reopened and back in use as soon as possible.”
The council plan to carry out an investigation into the longer-term refurbishment options for the centre.
