Singin’ In The Rain
Theatre Guild Glasgow are delighted to return to Eastwood Park Theatre in September with their next musical production, the timeless classic Singin' in the Rain!
About Singin’ In The Rain
Set in the late 1920’s, “Singin’ in the Rain” tells the story of Monumental Pictures – a production company that makes silent movies with Hollywood superstars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont. When they find out that a rival company have made a “talky” – the first motion picture to incorporate recorded voices alongside the pictures – they soon come to realise that they will have to move with the times and make their next hit film “The Duelling Cavalier” with an audio track. This causes a huge issue as the beautiful leading lady Lina Lamont does not have a beautiful voice to match her looks. She also believes the fan fiction and thinks that she and Don are a couple in real life as well as on film. In truth Don has fallen for a more modest girl, Kathy Selden – an aspiring young actress early in her career but with an incredible singing voice. Alongside his life-long pal Cosmo Brown, Don and Kathy work together to try and save the film. As the story unfolds we see the hilarious lengths the production company go to to save the film.
This tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood features such well known hits as “Make ‘Em Laugh”, “Good Mornin’” and the titular “Singin’ in the Rain”, and will be sure to capture hearts with dazzling choreography, scenery and special effects.
