A free event organised by Eden Project to launch the Month of Community in Scotland - celebrating everything communities have to offer is to be held in East Renfrewshire and everyone is urged to come and join the fun together.
The event, run by Eden Project Communities, supported by National Lottery, will showcase some of the amazing things taking place in the Neilston and Barrhead areas and includes food, music and crafts as well as kids’ activities. Local community organisations will also be on hand to let people know what’s happening in their neighbourhoods.
It’s also a chance to chat to Eden Project Communities – the people behind The Big Lunch – the largest annual celebration of community about your own community issues and find out more The Big Lunch and their plans for both the Coronation Big Lunch and Month Of Community in June which takes in neighbourhood watch, refugee week, carer week, small charity week and many more.
People can be part of history and join millions across the UK with a Coronation Big Lunch on the 6th to 8th of May or join the fun in June and plan their Big Lunch as part of the Month of Community fundraising locally or celebrating an awareness day of choice.
Jennifer Carroll, Big Lunch Relationship & Communications Lead for Scotland, said: “The one positive of COVID was the real surge of community spirit, activism and neighbourly engagement. But perhaps we can do more to boost this and hold on to it better as stats show its slipping away again. Let's keep nurturing those connections and work together on making our communities more resilient and sustainable.
“At Eden Project Communities, we believe food brings us all together and the best conversations and ideas can be sparked we sit down and get to know each other better. So come along and enjoy Free Food, Friendship and Fun. We can also help you take away a Big Lunch solution that might suit you too!”
The roadshow, in association with Neilston Saturday Lunch Club and Warm Space, will visit Neilston Parish Halls on Saturday April 29th from 11.30am to 3pm and is free to all.
