Interactive shows hosted at Eastwood Park

Audiences are in for a treat this May as they become part of the performance, with two interactive shows coming to Eastwood Park Theatre in Giffnock!

Guests are cordially invited to the wedding of the year, with theatrical dining comedy experience The Wedding Reception on Saturday 12 May, while the audience will take a trip down musical memory lane with Turntable on Saturday 19 May.

Anthony McReavy from East Renfrewshire Culture and Leisure said: “Audiences are sure to love these shows, because they will become part of the performance.

“The Wedding Reception is a two-hour theatrical dining experience, featuring a three course meal, comedy and highly improvised entertainment, while Turntable invites the audience to share memories, stories and music.

“It’s great to be able to offer something different to Eastwood Park Theatre.”

The Wedding Reception sees newlyweds Will and Kate expecting an intimate celebration – but Kate’s mum has other ideas, including a big surprise party that the audience is part of. The Wedding Reception is brought by Interactive Theatre International, the people behind the globetrotting hit, Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience (Faulty towers was a sell-out show at Eastwood Park last year).

Meanwhile, Glasgow southside musician and composer Michael John (MJ) McCarthy brings a different beat to the Carmichael Hall on Saturday 19 May with a trip down memory lane for music fans.

Turntable intends to reclaim music as a communal experience whilst also celebrating each participant’s individual relationship with the key songs and albums in their lives. The show started when MJ McCarthy and his Great Aunt Kathleen – 55 years his senior – connected over a stack of vinyl. Since then, the Turntable team have toured her record case around Scotland, inviting listeners of all ages to investigate its contents whilst reflecting on the importance of music in their lives.

The show was commissioned by the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival in 2015 and now seeks to combat loneliness and isolation experienced by the young and old across Scotland and the UK.

Tickets for The Wedding Reception cost £45, including a three course meal and tickets for Turntable are £10, available from: www.eastwoodparktheatre.co.uk/boxoffice.
