East Renfrewshire’s schools have had a record-breaking year for exam results!

S4, S5 and S6 results are all the best ever in an outstanding year for the area’s seven high schools.
At S5 level, there are significant increases across the board.
A total of 42 per cent achieved five or more Highers, compared to 39 per cent the previous year. A total of 64 per cent achieved three or more Highers, and 80 per cent at least one Higher.
A total of 170 pupils achieved five or more Highers at grade A.
At S4, young people achieved the highest ever results – 94 per cent achieved five or more
qualifications at level four (National 4), up from 91 per cent per cent in 2014, and 72 per cent achieved five or more qualifications at level five (National 5), up from 71 per cent last year.
Eastwood and St Luke’s high schools had their best ever performance at S4 (levels four and five). Barrhead and Woodfarm had their best ever S4 performance at level four.
At Williamwood, 85 per cent of pupils achieved five or more awards at level five or better – the highest ever S4 performance.
Across East Renfrewshire, 244 pupils – 18 per cent – achieved eight or more grade A passes at National five.
Mearns Castle and St Ninian’s had their best ever S5 results – at least 50 per cent of S5 pupils in these schools achieved five or more Highers.
At Advanced Higher in S6, East Renfrewshire also achieved its best ever performance with 37 per cent achieving one or more Advanced Higher awards, up from 35 per cent in 2014
Eastwood and Mearns Castle high schools both saw significant increases of five per cent or more and their best ever results at this time in the proportion of S6 pupils achieving one or more Advanced Highers.
Convener for education and equalities, Councillor Elaine Green, said: “These are outstanding results and another record-breaking, astounding performance for East Renfrewshire.
“These achievements are a tribute to the hard work of pupils, exceptionally well supported by our staff and parents.
“Congratulations to everyone – there’s real cause for celebration today.”
This is the first year East Renfrewshire’s pupils have sat the new National exams at S4.
