It will see the group – which is behind the popular I Love Clarkston campaign – continue to work together to increase the number of people shopping, visiting, working and investing in the town centre.
A total of 51 businesses out of 83 voted in favour of the renewing the BID.
BID chair Gordon Paterson said: “This is great news for Clarkston businesses and residents alike. We need to adapt and change the way our high streets function and can only achieve this by working together.
“Clarkston deserves a more vibrant, attractive and diverse shopping / business area than it currently has. Many of the problems with it are beyond our capabilities but we now have five years working in conjunction with East Renfrewshire Council truly make a difference.
“There are ambitious plans in the pipeline, including more local events and much-needed visual improvements. As we proceed into our new term it will be essential we target external funding to make the changes that Clarkston require. New street banners will also be installed in the near future to brighten up the shopping area.
Plans in the pipeline include more local events, and targeting external funding to help improve the town centre.
The council has also been looking into more flexible planning arrangements to support local businesses.
Clarkston BID, as well as East Renfrewshire’s other business improvement district, Giffnock Village, has been supported by the council since it was established in 2010. This has included providing staff and office support, including a dedicated officer and consultant who work exclusively with the BID committees.
There are more than 130 members of the Clarkston BID. It was Scotland’s 10th when it was set up five years ago.
A third BID is being developed for Barrhead town centre.
