The popular facility is being completely transformed in the extensive refurbishment.
Local residents will get their first peek inside the new space next month, when community groups, including groups who currently use Rhuallan House, are invited in for a VIP tour.
The work is transforming the library into a community hub with meeting spaces that can host local groups, book clubs, gigs, performances and every type of class from computing to yoga.
Leading designers HMY Radford, who designed the award-winning Newcastle City Library, have come up a fantastic new design for the library interior.
It will feature:
• A fantastic contemporary layout with stylish design.
• A new reading area and improved seating throughout the library.
• A new snug area featuring a wide range of newspapers and magazines and a coffee machine.
• A new space for children and a dedicated area for teenagers.
• A community room with storage and catering facilities.
• Two other meeting rooms and a learning suite.
• A new heritage room.
• Self-service facilities supported by a dedicated information desk.
• Plasma screens to help with presentations and provide community information.
Convener for community services and community safety, Councillor Mary Montague, was one of the first to get a look inside the library and see it take shape.
She said: “This major project is transforming Giffnock Library into a real hub for the community.”
“Everyone involved in the planning, design and construction have done an amazing job to turn it into this wonderful leisure and learning space.”
“We are on course to deliver local people their new centre bang on time and I am sure they will be as impressed as I am.!”
“Giffnock Library has always been popular with the community but we can be confident that it will be even more so thanks to these first-class improvements.”
Work is well on schedule and the library is due to reopen at the end of February.
