Our third annual Lights On event in the village of Uplawmoor, hosted by Uplawmoor Community Council and working with Caldwell Parish Church. The evening will start with a Christingle service at 6:30pm, with the tree lighting approximately 7pm. Carols will then be sung and everyone is invited to the hall for Tea, Coffee, Mincepies and other refreshments - A fun night to be had by all!
This year, we were told that East Renfrewshire Council were looking to charge the village £460 for the tree. As a small Community Council we can’t afford that.
Therefore, we’re going to make the best of a bad situation. We’ve approached a local garden centre to arrange the tree, and we’re looking for your help in funding it. To try and get some festive spirit back into the whole event, we’re also asking if you could dig a little deeper, because everything we raise above the cost of the tree will be going to the Trussell Trust food bank in Barrhead.
Please give what you can spare, and let’s ensure we have a great night for the lights’ switch on (12th December!) as well as helping some others who will be really struggling this winter.
While we take every opportunity to ensure the details for Uplawmoor Village Lights On are accurate, we always advise that you contact the event organiser before setting out for the event to avoid disapointment.
